Wednesday 23rd August 2023 – Kirtlebridge to Home

A fantastic nights sleep and we had breakfast at 9am. The gentleman who owns the B&B is a breeder of Border Terriers, using them for ratting in the local area and has about 20 of them. He had a little one at 12 weeks old that he will use as a stud in the future. The little pup was in a pen on the lawn and I did have an hour or so playing with him last night, and so had to say goodbye to him. Helen says no!

Irresistible Border Terrier – 12 weeks old.

The lady at the B&B insisted on giving us a tour and so we didn’t get away until 9:50am.

Remains of Power Station on route to Annan. A better picture from when we saw them at the start of the trip.

We went to the Tesco at Annan to fill up with diesel (42 Litres at 145.9p per litre) and headed for the M6. We did stop at Stafford services between 1:15pm to 1:45pm for a short break. Just before the services we passed a lorry pulling a Class 09 shunter (09009) on the back. We continued along the M6 toll road to the A14 at the Catthorpe interchange.

At Stowmarket, we hit the first jam of the holiday as the road is being replaced. We turned off at the A137 to head to Manningtree, and got our next traffic jam at Brantham due to traffic lights. Then again, the traffic lights at the top of the hill at Lawford caused yet another hold up for us. All the miles we have traveled and now all the hold ups near home!

We finally arrived home at 5:58pm having traveled 404 miles. Sadly today I forgot to turn on the GPS tracker, so no details of the 404 miles of the journey home today.

24 Aug – Filled up with diesel 63.57L at 156.9p per litre.

Total miles for the complete trip 2134.
